Hey guys.

I got a new genuine VE HSV steering wheel for my SS, now, I'm a little worried about installing it because of the airbag, I'd hate for it to go off. Is there a way to do it to guarantee it won't go off?

Also, is anyone in Perth who has done it before able to help me? (For $$ ofcourse).

I don't think there's a guarantee, I know people who've disconnected the battery and taken out the fuse have had it still go off. If your doing it yourself (I don't advise it), be extremely cautious.

Just disconnect the battery or pull the fuse. Won't go off without power. There's a how-to on installing a new steering wheel somewhere on this site. Should come up with a search.

Yeah, I've seen that, feel really confident apart from the airbag, heard it's not cheap to reprogram it aswell if it goes off.

Im also looking for a new gts or simular wheel....i wonder what a holden dealer would charge to fit it.
they would have it done in less than half hour i would imagine.

It needs to be replaced if it goes off, thats the expensive part.

Yeah, my car is due for a service in 2 weeks, I'll ring up and see if they can replace it and how much they'll charge.

I just bought one for my Calais and rang the local dealer hear in Sydney to inquire about fitting. I was quoted $60 which sounds like good value. I have heard of other dealers charging anywhere between $40 and $120, so ring around.
