just wanted to tell everyone that i got a used VY Berlina SeriesII Sedan today.
Its fully optioned with black leather, it has way too many options to list.
It was owned by an elderly couple who treated it like it was their child.
It only has 32,500ks on it.
i think i was fu**ing lucky to snatch it for a very low $27900 :D which i think is pretty good for the amount of ks on it and it being packed with all the options.
does anybody agree with me!!?

I agree with me hahahaha  :bop:

Whenever I want to compare prices I look at http://www.carsales.com.au. A quick search finds that the going price for a VY II Berlina in SA with ~30,000km is $31,990 and that's without leather (http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/cars...e=25&km_min=20000&km_max=40000&cylinder_num=6 ).

Another website which may be of interest to you is Auctions SA who sell the government's fleet. They have Berlinas reasonably often...

BERLINA SEDAN VY II NOVEMBER 2003 AUTO
    Kms: 63,872
    $21,800.00
    Engine: 3.8L (Petrol)
    Colour: TURBINE MICA
    Ex: SA WATER

BERLINA SEDAN VY II FEBRUARY 2004 AUTO
    Kms: 47,000
    $23,800.00
    Engine: 3.8L (Petrol)
    Colour: HERON WHITE
Ex: PORT PIRIE REGIONAL HEALTH SERVICE INC

BERLINA SEDAN VY II MARCH 2004 AUTO
    Kms: 24,934
    $27,000.00
    Engine: 3.8L (Petrol)
    Colour: VESPERS MICA
Ex: ADELAIDE CITY COUNCIL - CITY ASSETS

BERLINA SEDAN VY II MARCH 2004 AUTO
    Kms: 14,234
    $28,400.00
    Engine: 3.8L (Petrol)
    Colour: TURBINE MICA
Ex: WOMENS & CHILDRENS HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

But that doesn't include rego, stamp duty etc. and there's a chance they've been mistreated - not a good feeling when there is ZERO warranty. Although those last two look like they could have been winners.

But yes is the shorter answer: good buy :) Especially if you compare the cost with the cost of a new VZ ($43,450). It's ridiculous how much Australian 6s depreciate.

Have fun with your car though! I wish my parents had that much taste.......

Yeah it is a good buy,im hoping to have a berlina within 12 months,if not im happy with a VX.Is there much differance between the VY berlina and calais?.Also what does the 3 window trip computer have that the single window dosent? I belive that the single window trip computer now shows the average speed and fuel?

    3 Window Cluster

The 3 window cluster offers the following over the single window:

    1. A second trip computer, so that you can use it for shorter durations while keeping a longer record as well.

    2. Three items of information at a time, rather than just one. In my VS S2 Manual Executive (retro-fitted with a level 3 dash), I hardly ever have to hit the mode button. In my VY S2 Manual Executive, I am always hitting the mode button. I aim to move to a 3 window cluster on the VY S2 very soon.

    3. The 3 window cluster offers additional functions as follows:

    a. Trip time.

    b. Fuel used.

    c. Fuel remaining.

    d. Instantaneous fuel consumption.

    4. The 3 window cluster also offers slightly bigger numbers, which is significant to those of us whose eyes have seen better days.

    5. Finally, the single window cluster cannot be re-calibrated other than by sending the cluster away to instrument experts. If it has an error, you always have an error. If you change gearing, rolling diameters of tryes etc, you are stuck with the resulting errors in the trip computer or an expence to correct it. The 3 window cluster has a calibration capability built in. I hate errors in cimputers, so this is a big one for me personally.

    Hope that helps.

    Straight Swap, but Caution

    Hi,

The 3 window cluster is a straight swap, provided you get the right part number for your build date. Otherwise silly things like fuel gauges workinbg backwards happen.

I understand that there was only one cluster variant on the VY S2, but two on the VY S1.

I hope to have my 3 window cluster soon.

Ok fair enough. So i take it holden can do the swap? Any ideas on price inc. labour?

I got a quote on getting a calais dash for my VS exec around 5 years ago, though they told me it would cost around the $900 and they send the car to HSV wherever that is.

    Cluster Upgrade

    Yes, Holden can do it.

Officially the cluster costs up to $600, but I have been quoted $430 new for one from a dealer.

    Fitting is not particularly expensive.

I am expecting to get one off someone who upgraded a Calais to an HSV cluster, for a good price. If you watch the classifieds, they pop up occasionally.

These days, the upgrade of a VS to a 3 window cluster can cost as little as $200 if you do the installation yourself. The biggest difficulty is finding the Calais?Berlina/Statesman wiring loom to make the patch harness.
