So today I went on my driving test for my manual license (i've had my license for years, but auto only), got it on the first try. I was pleasantly surprised...I stalled doing a reverse park on an EL at the start, just down the road from the transport dept, but apparently thats a non-critical driving error. So now apparently once they put me on their insurance policy, my parents are going to let me drive the Hilux, its not a Commo, but still, it'll be cool. (they don't like me touching the VZ, and the WB costs an absolute bomb to run) Just one thing...when I went for my test, the driving examiner was going through his usual blurb, and when he said, "at no point will I ask you to do anything unsafe or illegal", and I said in a jokingly manner, "oh, so no drifts or burnouts then", and he laughed and said no. Apparently my mum believes that that asking a driving examiner that is like saying "bomb" on an airplane...is there any grain of truth to that, or is she just overreacting?
I dunno i know in my driving test the instructor said just pull a u turn here, and i said want a bit of smoke, while laughing. He laughed and said better keep smoke on the low down. He didnt seem to care. I even went to my test in my car and when i turned it on the stereo was up real loud and the guy just said "Ohhh AC/DC, good taste". Mind you he was a young bloke. I can see some of them reacting like "bomb on a plane" and failng you for something like that though. By the way congrats on the manual license.
congrats on the manual licence i wana go for mine but im not sure cos i got 2 and a bit months to do some lesons in 1 before i go for my ps
Best of luck. Basically, you have to hope that you get a good examiner (the examiner that took me when i did my auto was *really* strict, whereas the one I had today was more lenient), and that traffic conditions are good, and basically don't think about anything at all other than the task at hand.
Congrats, man It's a good feeling being able to drive both, no? Nicely done getting it first try, too ^^
I did mine in peak hour so i kew i wouldnt be able to speed. I think in vic youre allowed to stall 3 times before they fail you so dont be to worried about stalling. When i did mine i practiced reverse parks non stop. When he asked me to do a 3 point turn i was devastated, so when he told me to park at the test center i did a reverse park to show off haha.
Yeah, here I think you're allowed to stall 6 times before it goes from an NCDE (Non-Critical Driving Error) to an SRDE (Specific Repeated Driving Error), though I didn't know that so after that first stall when doing that reverse park I just thought, "and thats a disaster already", and didn't put much effort into it...but I got it in the end. And yes, it is nice to be able to drive both For the record I actually stalled 4 times
Personally i think everyone should be getting a manual license, i think getting auto license is like a half assed attempt at driving. What would happen if there was an emergency and you had to drive someone to hospital or somthing and the car that you were in was manual... and you couldnt drive... Kinda rooted then. Also think its stupid that as soon as your off your p's you can drive whateva... and not even know how to...???? doesnt really make sense to me. But congrats on getting ur manual license mate!
we'll i didnt... lol im on my opens and still can only drive auto "legally". my dads hilux is a manual and im as confident in his car as mine. i learnt is his car. when i look at when im driving it im uninsured... I agree that manual should be the only option, but when you going for your license there’s a lot of pressure not only from your friends but from yourself not to fail. So the easy way out is an auto lol ill do it one day when i can be bothered , congrats anyway mate
its awesome getting a manual licence coz theres nothing like being able to drive a manual car properly and that is also very true about to drive a manual car in an emergency and your unable to drive one- F&&K, i want my vp v6 to be manual all my mates are begging me to convert coz it would go so much faster but i cant afford it as iv just splurged 3g into a paintjob
Got my manual licence straight up had a manual sitting at home so had no choice plus I only had driven manuals was funny the first time I drove a auto was in a shopping center car park and went for the clutch only to find the brakes we stoped in a hurry anyway lol .
Hahahaha yeah, i drive manuals everyday, whenever i have to drive an auto for some reason, without a doubt i will always reach for the clutch and go to change gear and then just go wtf....... Everyone always laughs.... lol
yer i only got an auto lisence because i was too cheap to book tests...we had 3 commodores at the time all autos so there was no need, i just drove dads supercharged vy a few times 2 school went 4 the test, too easy. i can drive manuals tho, i do pretty much every weekend as all my mates are into that 'boy racer' theroy that if its not a manual than its a girl car crap. i have been meaning to go 4 it someday just incase the coppers look closly at my lisence when im not driving my car.
on my l's, i drove an auto to get used to peoples behaviour on the roads.. then when i was used to driving, i switched to manual (roughly 3 months after getting my l's) then didnt hop back in an auto till i got my first car. and now im back in a manual a year after getting my p's. lol i love my clutch.
