painting a brick wall is different from painting over a home. anywho, i still enjoy looking at the talanted artists that draw there creations in the one place to get the most exposure.
WHOA equivalent $30 per hour to scrub?? definitely should be less so they equate to more scrubbing hours, those folk are scum. i was at Connolea park in Gawler the other day and some clever mutt has drawn a massive dick on one of the stone walls that flank the entrance gates. Must be a statement of how cool they are to their mates. families who go into that park shouldnt have to put up with that crap, some people just havnt got any respect at least the courts are kind of sorta getting to better punishments
Then let them buy their own brick wall and paint it any way they like. Just because it's there does not give license to any turd to go and paint it. If the wall is not theirs then it should be assumed that there is no authority to paint on it. Makes no difference if it's a house, factory, fence, whatever. Reaper
What a ****ing joke!!! A rate of 30 bucks an hours? How can they even suggest that? That is a utter and complete slap in the face of every hard working, law abiding Australian! What you have to also consider is that the rate of 30 per hour is an un-taxed rate. So they are basically saying that a vandals time is worth approximately $37 dollar an hour!! That's the equivelent of someone being on a 76K+ salary!! Do they really thing that a vadals time is worth the same as someone who earns 76K?!? How the chop did they work that rate out exactly? Screw per/hour rate, They tag a wall, they can stay there cleaning it until it's gone. period.
as if any of them would ever have the brains to buy anything other than a can of spraypaint. i remember seeing one of them a few years ago spraying grafiti everywhere near us 10 minutes later he got hit and killed by a car.
i believe illusionalvr is meaning the artworks, not the "tag" ****. for example not the idiots who do the second one should all be rounded up and the entire CITY should be cleaned as service.
i used to tag a bit. so i guess im gonna be the only one on here that doesnt really mind it. taggers (hopefully) can develop into proper stencil artists, and TBH if every alleyway in the city was covered in good graff i would be a really happy man. all the colours really liven up dull laneways. having said that i am totally against vandalism, as in damage to properties, shop fronts, etc. places where someone will be forced to clean. also if i ever caught someone taggin up a stencil or proper graff i would ... well.. i just would. no need to go into it on the net. last thing we need is another computer hero. i dunno if anyone saw that article about the banksy stencil: Clean-up crew don't give a rat's about Banksy - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) his works can go for $150k. he started out as a crappy tagger/chromer... 30 bucks an hour is a joke. minimum wage is ok. its pretty hard work cleaning a wall especially if there is old paint on it. not much of a punishment though. i say send them to volunteer at an old folks home for 3 weeks. now THAT is hard work.
speaking of this, I saw a van driving with a trailer on the back saying "graffiti clean up" on the trailer. Took a look in the van and there were all these dero looking teens. So im prety sure its happening in victoria to.
Huuuge difference between a lame arsed tag and a piece of 'street art'. I don't know about anywhere else but Canberra has legal walls where people can spray murals and some people are actually paid to do it. Some people are really talented and it pisses me off when some ball face decides to tag over the top of it.
If they have the permission of the owners of the relevant walls then fine. No permission no paint - art, tag, or other. Reaper
i can pop a piece up here tomorrow of two walls adjacent my work in richmond that have got the clearance from the council. really good artists too. i think you will find that even the taggers stay clear of good graff. its kinda like an unwritten rule. if local residents wants less tag, then they need to employ some kids to do a good piece. thats how it works. kids need to express themselves, and id much prefer to walk out into my alleyway to find a new piece, than a dirty syringe. edit* i was on cleanup duty once about 15 years ago, so this rule is far from new. the difference is that there is pay involved now
why the eff do these people think its right that they can do this to the property of other people without any permission? beats me. might as well just take to a car with a bunch of forks really. i'm a little annoyed as some tools decided it would be a great idea to 'tag' one of my family's brand new refrigerated semi trailers in adelaide. its just crap. and it was brand new, aka done less than 2,000kms. hasn't even been loaded before its that new.
the man knows his stuff and i agree with him %100. also i got the clean up duty back in 2004 nothing cuts in to a little wrighter than to buff his own work and his identity be known.
Yeah like the tools that tag up the front of my trains, they get pretty good exposure. But they sure as hell make trying to drive a 10,500t Coal train pretty hard when you can't see out the windows. Also the risk of cleaning up one of these scumbag pieces of dog excretement on a train is very real, happens too regularly.
