Sooo hope I'm doing the right thing, even now with the prospect of a new car I'm still thinking of the maloo ,
So , so fortunate and lucky I can keep it and hopefully when club rego or things are a little better start using it again.

Dam I'm missing it and I haven't even laid it up or picked up the hatch

As you say, you are fortunate to still retain possession.

Sounds like the new ride should still provide some fun.

Yeah the place is totally full now.
More likely I'm just stupidly stubborn or just stupid .
Hopefully this doesn't prove to be a bad decision.
Hopefully also might get a clearer picture of the problems before rego runs out but I think that is probably wishful thinking.

Hopefully, otherwise once the novelty wears off so will the desire to use it.

Don't think I'll tire of how much less fuel it'll use compared to the 2 V8s

don't think it's even classed as a warm hatch but seems quite zippy , normal
N/A 4 gotta rev it and therefore it's performance is a little inaccessible in suburbia. But with all the ones I drove still have be paying attention, still quite easy to speed.
Hopefully the handling will be good and I'll like when get use to it.
Yeah pick it up next Friday.

    Yep,
    124 killerwasps a lowly 201nm at 4700 revs
Haven't driven enough just one reasonable test drive but it feels like the variable timing is in that 4 to 5 range
alot of features, tech , heated seats ( not shore why in aus), cooled glovebox= what?
I took it home on the drive and the bonus is with the back seats folded down doesn't affect where I have drivers seat and with the passengers front seat back brought forward can fit the flat bar road bike in without having to take the front wheel off so the mountain bike will fit as it's a little shorter.
Will be getting roof racks and a phone holder and dash mat.
It's already got mudflaps , weather shields and floor mats.
At $14,900 it was I think pretty cheap, did the revs check and as part of that it had price guides , trade in value is 15100 to 17something.
The payment of that cheap price is it's got 95800kms on it.

Im glad you kept the Maloo. It has some cool value because its a Maloo. The problems it has are most likely the joys of owning an old ute. Difficulty is as you know its still an old ute but still quite modern in a way. So you get hit with a double whammy. Gonna be worse though for those blokes who own VFs and VEs V8s in 20 years time. Imagine having to fix the 100 extra things that the Maloo won't have in years to come.

Why I decided to get newer with more kms than a little older and less kms.
Guessing, unless it's a dud or I've made a dud choice for me it's going to be around for a while. And even if I don't decide I like it I'm properly stuck with it.

Yeah, I'm not over the ute , just it's issues as a daily .

So I've already done some sums and am thinking with the savings on fuel ( both more economical but also just get 91) , wondering with savings also on insuring maloo on extreme limited use ( cheaper), I'm thinking I might be able to ( justify) ( because I really am stupid/ hooked) keep it regoed.

This thought patern proves I'm not over it and am insane .

So here's a new view from my deck .
Not new to me but in it's new spot as (I'm lucky) my new toy ( a another ) , now not a daily with the new daily next to it .
Cleaned up in the carport, threw some shxt out moved some stuff around and hey presto I can fit 2 cars in the carport = yeah.
Officially yesterday arvo maloo went on to extreme limited use through shannons, ( bonus was even more savings than was previously told and therefore expecting), so today was the last use for a couple of weeks ( took some scrap metal in and got $105= yeah)
, and no, ute or any part of it was part of it was not part of that deal , ha ha ha.

Hope I've done the right thing, already waiting for an excuse to use it again !

Front side on view of it ( looks so tuff , Hyundai looks, well yeah , not it's best view ,I recon).
So much creature comfort and convenience with the Hyundai though ( = lights under mirrors and on door handles , heated/ cooled seats , and million other things the maloo hasn't heard of).
Found the steering setting for it this evening and yeah extremely happy the setting was on comfort , so hopefully normal or sport will be soo much more to my liking.

Very keen to to try and sort a few of it's issues, but can't see anything to much happening until a least next weekend ( funny how it's spurred that interest though) , ( also why I'm fairly happy with my decision).
    You never know but!!
To resolve some of the issues was never going to happen overnight ( and most will probably not happen this year ).
Therefore now with the daily pressure taken off = a lot more relaxed .

Need to wash and clean maloo , hopefully next weekend .

It will probably also get parked nose in as I'm guessing/ pretty sure I'll need to hook up a trickle charger.

Yesterday I finally cleaned up the repairs to the plastic housing in the cluster that holds the 3 liquid crystal displays. When putting it back together the housing then cracked between the cutouts for the displays grrrrr = not happy! It went back into the ute anyway .
So along with that now the cruise appears to not be working and the air bag warning comes on. The dam list is just growing and growing .
At least now as a non daily I can just take a chill pill and go I'll get to it whenever.
Didn't stop me using it today or having a smile on my face while doing so.
Also because I'm totally stupid ( not enough things to do or spend that limited supply of money on).
Bought this today ( partly why the ute got a decent run).

    Starr manifold and injectors.

Also pose this question here, as you can see little bit of overflow/ spill = white stains. Oil is not milky and can't see any oil in water but there must be some oil fumes getting in , my guess .
Guessing head gaskets, = other people's thoughts?

    Tucked away again now.

Is the cruise switching on (green light), just not engaging (orange light)?

Yeah, yesterday before I put the dash fascia back on I checked to see what lights were not coming on . The green cruise was not so pulled covers off , grabbed the spare stalk , could hear it swiching ,so played with the globe, = it seems to be abit loose and fidgity, but seemed happy and put back together.
The green didn't light up today but guessing just globe no contact .
Will have to try the spare stalk and see how it goes.
I'm guessing clock spring in steering wheel for airbag , probably need to be done to pass rego in 1.5 months time.

Coolant leaks will leave a white tell tale like that.

Looks like coolant has overflowed from the overflow.

Is the yellow lid on / sealing properly and / or is their a blockage in the outlet hose ?

Yeah and the outlet was blocked and I thought great = solved, but that photo is of after it's been cleared.
    Further investigation!!
Not that I want the extra expense but now with the starr manifold, would not totally argue with doing some heads = a little more compression , maybe even do something really stupid and a different cam.
Don't know if 250/260 rwhp is realistically achievable, but would be nice. Ahh = dreams, = well until common sense and no money kicks in, ( but who needs them) .
At least as I've said pressure is off ( was more of a mental switch) with it not being a daily anymore .
Don't know what the future holds but recon I'll be trying my darndest to hold onto it and eventually =club rego.

I have to say , even though it's only been 3 weeks, ( with the newer more sanitised daily )was expecting it to be a bit more of a handful to drive .
But was not that bad and into the corners was very direct, and = yeah so much more character .
I don't care if I'm annoying people at lights , listening to that thump thump thump is just soooo cool and intoxicating ( well I think anyway)

Injected5ltr club had their chrissy run today , a reasonable turn out, most came from Sydney.
It was up my way so I didn't have to travel far , 20 minutes to meet at Bar beach, then about 30 minutes down to Caves beach. Lunch and a couple of quiet beverages, meet some great people and then for me 30 minutes back home.

Missus seems to love hot rods , I think especially in the pick ups .

    Pitty she'll not get one.
How cool driven around in a classic rod pickup ( or even better/ maybe ), get to punt it around . Don't think it'll ever happen.
Unfortunately didn't get get a photo of the 50s mg , really hard core.
A few mini's and 70s vettes ( dam I sooo want one ) , just not willing to sell Aussie muscle cars to get. Yet anyway.
