20x8.5 36P 245/35R20 (factory HSV fronts) with -2 camber The blue tape is on the 40mm mark. So I'd buy 20x8.5 25P 245/35R20 with zero camber IMO
Just read the email again. They arent 25. Theyre 20. But looking at that. Id still be fine, just. **Edit** For people playing at home: Standard wheels are 8" +48. With 8.5 and +20 it pokes an extra 34mm (+35 is 19mm poke). Measuring the distance at the top of the tyre, Ive got about 38mm of to the outside of the front guard. From the sidewall ive got about 32. So if we account for maybe 3mm for the lip including rolling Im cutting it pretty fine. Will be pretty damn flush if I can pull it off. Rears, by the looks of it I have around 42mm from the top of my tyre and with the 10" it pokes 38mm. Just looking at I should be fine. Thats 10" with a 35 and a 255 which = 38mm poke (Im looking at 34mm) and The owner of that car claims thats a 275 but i think its a little smaller. I rekon 8.5 +20 is a go on the fronts. Ill try 275s on the rear in a 10" +35 and see how badly it scrubs. But I suspct im just going to have to leave it at a reasonable height and stiffen the arse end.
The rear tyres on my wagon (pictured above) are Falken FK452 275/30R20 on a 20x10 +35 and rear coilovers set to max damper and max std. rear camber adjustment
Thanks, youve been a great help. It must just be because theyre a 30 rather than a 35 that they look a little stretched, or perhaps the tyre brand. Ducker has also been amazing. Ill have to collate all the information and add it to the G8 forum and maybe one of the posts here if I can find it because Im sure itll be helpful to someone. Im pretty confident in the sizing now given the above information and measuring. Ill have to wait till next month to order my wheels. Then its a 2 week wait out of the US. Sooo hopefully, everything is done and dusted by end of next month.
Maximum allowable track width increase is 25 mm on front wheels according to Vicroads. They look good though!
Well, ill only be going an 8.5 on the front. Im not going to wide on the front as has been pointed out you tend to find every single rut in the ground and for the most part, this car is daily driven (for now). Im still contemplating keeping my stock SSVs for daily driving though. *EDIT* Wheels officially ordered, now we play the waiting game. Said it should be ordered next week when they do a US order and hopefully see them within about 10 days. Theyre ####ing keen not to give me the +20s though. Placed order, immediately rang me back and said theyve got +35s in stock in Australia, do you wanna try them out first.
man I wonder what their problem is (liability?)they only poke an extra 28mm over factory, add the option of camber or rolling the front guards and they'll tuck easily and there's no clearance issue's. I've seen 20x10 20P on the front
I dunno, but I spoke to TSW Australia and Wheel Deal the reseller. Both suggested against it. I said, ok ill re measure. Ive got MULTIPLE examples in this thread of people running similar offsets. Including one with a 35P * 10Inch. Which pokes 38mm compared to the 8.5 20P 34mm (thats over standard 8" 48P) Told them, order the +20s. He said no worries ill do it. I put the phone done. Within...2 minutes got a phone call saying theyve got 35s in stock in Australia. Soooo. Long story short. Theyre sending th 35s done. They agreed I could fit them and see where they sat and if I didnt like it I could just continue on with the +20s. But I did say the coil overs do have camber adjustment and the 245s should fit either flush or just under the guard with some camber. I guess its more just they dont want me coming back and complaining they dont fit.
fair enough, if you want stick some $30 12mm spacers behind them to get an idea of how 20P will sit and you can check clearances at full lock. I remember I had this on my phone, G8 auto cross setup, 10s with 315s on the front.
Well they said they wont have tyres on them. So I think the entire process is a waste of my time to be honest. But eh we shall see. Ill have a good idea anyway of where the rim sits and ill just add around 35mm to the height and use my imagination. Really annoying cause I was second guessing myself. Measured, saw pictures, measured again and made a decision. Ordered them and now because of this im second guessing myself again.
Stick with your gut instinct, you know won't you want to achieve so make it happen and not settle second something your not happy with. Can't wait to see it tho. In my imagination it looks mint
Yeah, Ive got that Stanceworks VE Wagon as my desktop at work. It wont be quite like that, but I have a low, fat tyred wagon in my head.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiN1KSgJrsg&feature=youtu.be There you go. Not the best video. I did one early in the morning and it has a nice crackle/burple at around 3500rpm - especially in the manual shift mode but that videos playback was all fked up.
Ok went and had them test fitted. For your viewing pleasure. Fitment photos. Thats with +35 on the front. Its pretty much dead on flush. The verniers are where +20 would sit. So the plan now is. +35 with a 5mm spacer. Bringing it up to a +30 which is where I was originally wanting to go. That will make it dead flush maybe even a little poke. Ill dial in some camber and bobs your aunty. This is how the rear sits.
