Grill blackout

Has anybody painted the chrome cross bars on the grill I want to paint them black .what prep what paint any ideas ?

Sand them back with fine grade wet and dry until you have a nice flat finish. Spray with black acrylic to match the rest of the grille. I agree those heavy horizontal bars look naff.
