    Rocket,
Please tell me exactly what Holden can 'reprogram' back into your PCM with Tech2 after a battery disconnect?

this is really amazing stuff. keep it coming guys!! ;)

a point to rocket0000 that may be significant. when you turn the ignition from on to off, it fully opens and closes the iac valve to reset that. maybe that contributed to the better running afterwards

i actually found this in the elleries manual, so rocket0000's method does work.... there are 3 ways to remove the error codes apparently (this is written in the ABS section for vt-vX by the way. after the rear brakes section) 1./ using a tech 2, 2./the ignition cycle method which rocketman told us, and 3./ "the diagnostic request line proceedure which i will copy down from the book:

step 1/ ignition off, 2/at DLC short terminals 5 to 12 with a paperclip or something, 3/ignition on (will display all the codes, 4/once all the codes have been displayed, disconnect an end from one of the terminals for approximately 1 second. repeat the disconect and reconect 2-3 times within 10 seconds. leave the test wire connected on the final recconnection. 5/ only code 12 should flash now. let it do this for at least 15 seconds before switching off the ignition and then remove the test wire. 6/if there where any codes other than 12 left after step 5, the codes have failed to delete, do step 1-5 again.

that should come in handy for a few people.

really, vt commodores do run crappy for a while afterwards if you disconnect the battery (mine did anyway), unless you reset the iac afterwards. it will eventually run better on its own after a while if you dont reset the iac (mine did anyway)

..I'm sorry I started to read this thread!. most confusing! . I have never heard of 'history codes'!..

My question is, how do I see them?, Do I have them?, Do I need to see them?... as I have disconnected the battery on several occasions to clear a faulty oxygen sensor code and when I have re-connected the battery, every thing was just fine. Ran sweet as.....!

Ive got a Tech 1 scantool, and,at least with the with VS models, theres the current error codes menu and then theres the error code history menu ..This history doesnt get wiped or erased after a certain time or after so many start ups, not on VS models anyway. Its just a list of previously set error codes that have been set and then cleared /fixed,you can go through this code history to see what error codes have been set/erased over time..The only way to see the error code history is with a scantool..
