Depends what im doing.

Weights session = metal. The harder the better. Lamb of God, Slayer, Dimmu Borgir etc etc.

Cardio I enjoy something a little less intense. Nine Inch Nails, maybe some Rob Zombie, Disturbed, Rammstein, Static X. If Im feeling particularly free spirited Ill bust out the Industrial with some Combichrist or Nachtmahr.

Honestly, I listen to motivational speeches by anything I feel helps me through a certain period. Matsuez M does a heap of great ones on youtube. same as arnie and believe it or not steve jobs. Depends on the workout sometimes. Usually Eminem, Metallica, whatever really. As long as there is something cranking :)

I have a range of songs that psych me up/cool me down when I drive to/from where I do my long runs (18km+). Don't use mp3 player when doing weights, cords etc just get in the way.

On the way there (depending on event I am training for), for example:
- Gotta give it up (Marvin Gaye)
- Baby do you wanna bump? (Boney M)
- Lust for Life (Iggy Pop)
- Papa was a rolling stone (Temptations)
- Do it Again (Steely Dan)
- Long train runnin (Doobie Brothers)
- Ca plane pour mois (Plastic Bertrand)

Afterwards, to reflect on my efforts.....
'Nessun Dorma' (Pavarotti et. al.)
'It don't come easy' (Ringo Starr)
'Teardrop' (Massive attack)

Different events have a different playlist. Sydney marathon training soundtrack has songs that remind me of sydney and/or winter (bulk of training will happen over winter). Canberra Half training tracks feature tracks that remind me of canberra and/or autumn (bulk of training happens in autumn).
