So, I've heard that we might have hail storms happening tomorrow.

Anyone know of the most efficient way to work out when to go for a drive to the nearest underground carpark is?

Keep watching BOM and when you see the fooken hail storm coming that's the time to run.

Need to protect the old girl and I don't have a garage I can use as I converted mine into an office.
As Admin for the WA Weather Group and an avid weather lover (and no longer regular chaser) I can say the following is solid advice.

Follow Brisbane Storm Chasers on Facebook.
http://www.bsch.com.au/

Brissie radar: http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR663.loop.shtml#skip

Keep an eye on Twitter @BoM_QLD

Areas of black will be large hail on the BoM radar. Red is totally not cool as well. Orange is going to be heavy rain.

Bookmark this page, or add to your home screen. http://www.bom.gov.au/qld/warnings/
That is for official info which in severe weather events is critical.

Rumours and false info will spread like wild fire on Facebook so all the official sources will be something to check back to.

BoM Brisbane will issue warning graphics depicting severe cells And their headings.

Scout things out early. Find two places you will seek out shelter. Make sure it won’t flood. Have an exit route. Have plan B. Get there early because everyone else will show up at the last minute.

The ABC is the official emergency broadcaster and they excel in these situations. Have ABC Brisbane tuned in on the car radio in advance. AM band of course.

Have a battery pack for your phone.

Even an old school radio on hand just in case.

Also of some help will be this lightning app. It’s the best I’ve come across (without having weatherzone paid subscription which has a detailed app that gives lightning data.)

It’s free:
My Lightning Tracker informs you when lightning hits your area. Find out more about thunderstorms around you.

Or

Go park your car under a Bunnings early and leave it there. Go home (bus or Uber) and stay safe.
