look under the car, i think the passenger side, and there is like a wire around the middle of the car, it comes from the two rear brakes and connects to another wire goin 2 the hand brake, the wire that comes from the rear brakes and connects to the hand brake wire there is two bolts, u will see wat i mean when you have a look, make sure the hand brake is down and tighten the bolts up....its pretty simple once u know what your looking out...hope ive helpd

as Troy5L said, pretty easy stuff, but pending how far your dad drove with the handbrake on, he's prolly worn out the handbrake pads, might be worth purchasing new ones and replacing them then adjusting the handbrake. u might be almost running metal on metal

i've never had the rear bumper off, but i know theres 2 or 3 bolts underneath, a couple of screws round the wheel archers, and i believe a couple of bolts under the carpet on the wall below the boot catch.

with the rear bumper, there's one bolt in each wheel arch and 5 or 6 facing rearward under the boot. undo them all and slide the rear bar backwards. piece of cake

Ah cheers for that guys.. will take a look when i do the handbrake and other stuff... hmmm actually while i am asking questions my powersteering pump is leaking. The local holden dealership noticed it when i had the car serviced not long ago and told me it would be about $530 to replace the pump. Surely this cant be that hard. Anyone had to do it before? How hard is it to do? or would i be better off getting it done by the pros?

Where is it leaking from? Most of the time I've seen leaks on VR/VS is behind the reservoir, and its just an O ring that needs replacing (20c)

ah ok um i am not really sure.. it just said on the invoice that it was leakin and that it was a $530 repair but if it is simple i am game to give it a go.. they also told me the rocker covers and leaking along with the sump and rear main seals... i got some new rocker cover gaskets just waiting for some free time and i am not going to worry bout the sump and main seals as that would mean raising the engine and i dont see it being worth it since it isnt leaking that badly
