Hi guys. My harmonic balancer is Just starting to make a clacking sound at idle. Almost time for a new one.
What id like to know is has the balancer got sensors in it that will give me better MPG after i get a new one fitted please ?

If so,what do the sensors do please ?

Cheers.. Rod

I don't think the balance it's self has sensors, but I can't see replacing it making things worse. I know the CAS sits kind of in behind it. Well it does on my car anyway.

there are no sensors in the harmonic balancer. there is a sensor behind it called "crank angle sensor". by changing the balancer it will not change anything. you just wont hear the sond anymore. make sure you also change the "front crank seal" when you do it.
