Engine running. Run through all the gears before checking. Refer my earlier post on page 2 or 3. Also follow
@mechanic advice with regards to cleanliness and quality of parts / fluid.

And that seal is a bitch to remove with out a proper tool. I will make one next time I service mine.

Official Holden fluid check and fill procedure attached
Yes that a must

It did you check oil level via drain with engine running and 30c or engine stopped?
Have done nothing on the WN Caprice so far First I have to change the Engine oil, then flush the radiator out 4 times then coolant, and eventually after odd jobs are gone around the house I will do the 6L80 E

(just off topic for once)
Changing the oil on the Caprice v (today) with 6.0 ltr engine in it. To remove that black Engine cover do you lift it up on the 4 corners?

After reading those 3 files I can see a service person taking short cuts to save on time and the number one is "the Filler Entry" Yes you take that plug off without cleaning around it you will introduce rublish inside your gearbox. Also like I said before on that other Video on youtube where I put the link in, when the guy removed that filler plug he put the plug on the floor when it can gaver rubbish on it. Hummmmm
