Haven't tried it yet. Going to button up the exhaust today or tomorrow so will find out soon. I assumed it might be like that but maybe modern autos are different. I'll post up what I find.

... Tell me does this gearbox behave like a typicle auto gearbox "eg" when its cold you have a level but when it gets hot at full operation temperature the level increases up the dip stick like any other auto?
As I understand, all auto fluids, including modern fluids increase in volume as they get hotter...

Its a characteristic of the fluid and not the gearbox...

Yes, that is the reason Holden nominated a specific fluid temperature range to check the level

Yes good to know as nothing has changed when it come to auto fluid, gets hot and it expands.

Tell me all. What Brand "eg"Castrol or other, Type "eg" Dexron 6, Semi or Full synthetic does Holden use in the New Cars with the 6L80E gearboxes used on a Vf commodore and WN Caprice V with L77 Engine. Since I cant Flush it I might as well get the same oil that in the car now so when I service it I use the same oil that comes in the car from new.
Also This OIL what capicity should I buy to do this service?

The dealer will sell you dex 6 if you want it. I guess it is labeled AC Delco.
Personally I would be happy to use a well known brand if it was labeled specifically as dex6 and not a one size fits all that claims to be everything all at once

AC Delco Dex VI.
I bought a 20L drum a few months back for $180.
I think it also comes in 4L containers but much more expensive per litre. I'd get 2x 4L you'd probably drain out around 6L.

Take a empty container to your local auto tranny specialist & get them to fill it.

That's what l do. He charges me $10.00 per litre. That's for dexron 6.

Yes I have heard this before as some automatic specialist business today they have one size boot (Auto oil) to fit all cars and I think that's wrong.

No doubt a pan change + filter would be over 4 lts so buying 2 X 4ltr should be ok. Tell me does the VF series or better still the WN Caprice have a Engineering mode so you can check the Temp of the gearbox when checking the final oil level.
