my friend got given his dads SV6 its been well looked after mechanical wise. just the motor has got some heavy km on it. has anyone dropped a SIDI engine into a non SV6 which currently has the non SIDI engine in it. and did u have to change any engine mods to make it work. not sure if u have to reprogram anything in the car or the engine goes in with no mods needed. friend of mine was going to replace his engine as its done heaps of km's on it . going back and forth interstate. was told the SIDI engine u can do more to it mods wise, and is it costly to change over the motor. dont know what a performance place would charge to do a engine change over and tune up. in south east of melbourne his father is paying for the new engine so its only the install and if needed mods to it. i told him just get a new crate engine and get it dropped in. but he was told the sidi can do more mods. he just got his licence and will go V8 later when he is off his P's so at the moment he has a nice SV6 just has to do it up a little to make it look better..

thanks in advance

Heavy k's and nothing else wrong with it ? Just drive it then.....
The SIDI would surely need a new ECU at least ( maybe that comes with the crate motor ?) and probably the rest of the fuel system too

different engine wiring harness... etc non comp plugs+

ECU software would require complete change. cant get holden to do it as it wont accept your VIN.

It could probably be done by someone but in the end is it going to be worth it?

Don't even bother with it, you said that he's just going to buy a V8 when off the P's (Seems like they all say that)

So, save for the future
