Has anyone else come across "B" cast heads with small valves?

Would be interesting to see if anyone here can identify holden v8 heads off the casting numbers.

Assuming that number is 92015981 (casting's a little hard to see) then I believe they are VH/VK Blue/Black VH5 heads (AKA "B" cast heads).

The small valve heads on the blue/black motors should have a casting number of 9947423.

The later A9L heads on the black 304 engines in VK & VL both had different casting numbers. And then the heads on the unleaded engines in the VL got different casting numbers yet again (assume because of the hardened valve seats).

After that (and including Walky's) the port configuration changed.

correct casting number ( I used to work in the foundries at GMH )

92015987 is the base casting for V8 enhanced performance engine heads
(ALL of them!...) on any VH and VK model (NOT VL though)


They can be machined to take std (small) IN/EXH valve sets or
more commonly large(r) valve sets

Very interesting that this casting did come in small valve version, which is what this pair has, my other pairs are all larger valve ones.
How or why they where on a 4.2 VH Ss I'm not sure.
I have couple of other numbers ill post tomorrow and see what the brains trust can tell me about them.
