Main advantage of ve brakes is that they work with stock m/cyl & booster...not meant to delete lmao.

Only way boosterless would work is by having to dual masters 1 matched for front other matched for rear...basically in too hard basket & those running willwoods arent really street cars that would get their brakes tested to the max.

Brakes you run comes down to wheels you want to fit,the budget & power level/usage.

this probably isnt relevant these days but when i was younger i had a very worked over solid cam 350 monaro that lost its brakes after a couple of uses.i drove in sydney traffic and had to drive into the gutter to stop at times cause the brakes were shot,no vaccum. i added a caravan vaccum expansion tank to the system and worked fine there after, just a thought.
cheers

thanks and you were right I need a mod plate( engineers cert) to go full vt set up why who knows is just the rules apparently, But can use the original booster master cylinder set up with upgraded disc and caliper size if directly bolt in place of the old set ( no mounting adjustments allowed must go in exactly as old set and bolt in the same way) and can upgrade to bigger master cylinders if not touch original booster( must be a compatible direct swap out to existing booster.) As old master cylinders are dual pot ( 1 front 1 rear) I have been told by brake mechanic from Sydney (specialist in brakes so they claim ex Burt brothers mechanic) after calling them after engineers ( QLD) and have been advised that the ve fronts are fine as they bolt in same and dual pot original master/ booster will have the pressure required to do the job but he say would be better to have bigger master cylinder(fluid) capacity to compensate if there is any difference in fluid capacity for ve caliper and pressure required but thinks original master booster set should be fine. Gentlemen does this sound correct and are there any fellow members who have done this disc/caliper change ( even if not to ve but later than vb set up) and if so does it work?

I have personally used the original VB-VR (I think) double diaphram booster, with 1" bore master cylinder with the VT conversion with my VC....All factory parts, that bolt straight up to your VB...

The calipers bolt straight up....You need hub adaptors as the VT has a floating rotor, where the VB has a hub and rotor all in one....So this might be a sticking point

Here's a link to them https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/274615726550?hash=item3ff05f71d6:g:7fUAAOSw5YFf2uk1&frcectupt=true

Here's the whole kit https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/390671957272?hash=item5af5dcfd18:g:rhgAAOSwMtxXqqVf&frcectupt=true

I used braided lines from safe brakes, which are ADR compliant, so they shouldn't be an issue...VT calipers have a different flare at the flexible line...

Hope this helps and worthwhile running it by an engineer in your neck of the woods to see if it's fine to fit up or you need a mod plate

thank you and now cheering again! As I can use the original master/booster& ve set up as have already got hubs but will look at changing to braided lines as that makes a lot of sense to me and did not think about that.. Cheers and thank you to all for help and have a few pre panel beater pics I am putting up of what we have had to fix and some shots of brake set up on front... if can pick a fault with brakes in pics (am told they ve but I can't trust what the salesman said now after willwood dramas) please don't hesitate to let me know and will post pics when out of panel beaters as he documents the rebuild with lots of before and after pics... he a tradesman and keeps pics on the office wall of his work and is proud to show them as has files on all his major rebuild jobs from start to finish.( pay no attention to shocks missing bits(rubbers) as we slapped together to move the car and now replaced all shocks and springs as you will see on later pics.

Those calipers look like VT to VZ, rather than VE

Thanks once again hey as I live in Whitsundays and have no other option but to buy this stuff online looks like I been feed a lot of horsesheet by so-called mechanics salesman &, looks like they all saw me coming and screwed me. to all those that have pitched in you all helped me out big time as salesmen all took a turns in bending me over to give me one and that's just wrong! am so glad you fellow members are here to help as car too historical to go to crusher as only 500 made and I want to leave a bit of history for future generations to see what we did before computers back in the day and all that technological wonders they have and see were it all began in 78.. I have adaptor hubs for vb-vt ( says on the invoice!) and was told fitted ve too so sounds like was sold a vt conversion and charged at ve price as obviously is dearer as is the later product.. and I only know what am told as brakes, not my deal as always had specialist repair ect ( is safety and I don't play around with that stuff) thank you all again and will keep you updated as build progresses and hopefully, this brake issue is finally sorted and can get the old girl back on the street soon for all to admire and reminisce about as you dont see these old girls anymore yet so many people owned one at one stage of life and often tell me this and bring back all the good memories they had in one.. ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU ALL.

Being v8 sle should already have big dual diaphragm booster...suppose could upgrade to 1" m/cyl like brocks, braided hoses to with ve brakes up front should be fine.

I was still using standard vh v8 brakes with 450hp 355 stroker in my sle...braked surprisingly well for big cammed engine still with 270mm front discs...way better than gutted vp ute with 290mm discs which was standard upgrades for vb-vk back in the day.

Must admit do like m/cyl & plastic booster the vs models got much nicer pedal feel & if had to do vt brakes rather do vs booster with vt m/cyl for better rocker clearance if it's worked holden v8 with roller rockers.

What is your sle one of the factory black manual sle cars?
Why does it need engineering? Why not just blueslip rego instead if period mods fitted?
