I'm thinking about putting the caprice I'm gonna pick up this week onto LPG. The owner said he looked into it and got some bad feedback from people that had done it. Now the owner did have the car since 2003 so the technology might have changed since then.

I'm just wondering if anyone here has a Gen III V8 who has been running on LPG for a few years now. I just want to get feedback if it does harm to the engine.

Or if anyone knows someone who has had issues with LPG or had no issue running LPG for a few years.

    Thanks in advance

From my understanding the new Direct Injection? setups are better than on fuel. Can't say much on long term effects.

Yeh, the seller of the car said he was advised not to convert it, but that could have been 5 years ago with older technology. I'll ask him when I pick it up.

Talk to blownba, he's the man on the subject.
To be honest i was also considering it and rang a few blokes but for the klms i do it just isn't worth it really. The new liquid injection systems are apparently all the rage so i'd start by ringing around and talking to people who install it.

spend decent money on a decent direct injection system and it will run fine. dont expect an el cheapo gas system to work well.

girlfriends dad (mechanic etc) has it in his car (vz ssv crewman) and the only issues hes had with it was from bad batches of gas

A vapour gas system WILL work with the Gen III, the reason they advise against it and to run a direct gas injection setup is due to the factory intake manifold being made of a carbon fibre style material. As vapour gas setups are prone to backfire, this leads to the manifold cracking when it happens (which isn't a good thing lol)
Anyways, yes it can be done and yes it will run fine with a competant tuner, but if it backfire's lookout.
