Na no rev limiter mate. The red 202 in my LC sees between 5500-6000 a bit, mostly cause of the 3.55 diff. Wouldn't go over that too often with a stock engine though.

Back in the Group C days, they were taking them to 7000 apparently.

I had a mechanic friend in Mildura, although he didn't see it with his own eyes a guy at Bursons told him they had a red motor up to 30,000 rpm before it blew up. Apparenly its something they were working on for years.

Sounds like bullshit to me but hes not the kind of guy to talk ****, I belive he was told that but the guy that worked at Bursons I have no idea who he is. (I have no intention of trying to back this up or to prove it).

From a red engine I don't see how its possible or why they would spend that much money and time trying to achieve it.

An average car has a red line of 5,500 to 7,000 rpm, a Lexus LFA has a red line of 9,500 although higher can be obtained.

A Yamaha YZF-R6 has a redline of about 16,200 rpm although it can go over 17,500 rpm, and a Honda CBR250 has a red line of 19,000 rpm. Due to mass they can easily handle high rpm compared to larger engines.

Regulations in 2010 Formula 1 limit the maximum engine rotation to 18000 rpm, but during the 2006 season, engine speeds reached over 20000 rpm on the Cosworth engine.

I got way off topic (trying to look it up but didn't find anything) anyway.. most 202's wont have a rev limiter unless they have a ECU to control it.

A stock 202 in good condition might get a little over 6,000 rpm, with research and a ton of money I think it would be easily up to around 10,000 rpm but hardly worth it.

AFAIK, the electric dizzy 202s does have an inbuilt rev limiter. The old mechanical dizzy don't.

Black 202 EST have a 5900 rev limit.

30 000 rpm is a lot of revs for any engine, i highly doubt anyone could get a red motor to that, the block would crack for sure well below that one would think, guy at bursons is exaggerating surely!

they sound great at 9000 if you have the mods to get one to rev that far and still make power at that revs
