I need to fix a broken clutch in a manual V6 but the problem is I first need to get the car up a vehicle ramp (a 200mm height rise) to get under it.

I am considering 'driving' it up (the front wheels only) by removing the spark plugs/fuel pump fuse (reduce the engine load on the starter) and intend to start it in gear and driving just 1m up the ramp.

Has anyone tried this or could offer any experience on how fast will it move as I need to go up slower than starting the motor while in gear and risk overshooting the top/end of the ramp.

I did it years ago on old Holden's and Fords. I never thought of removing the plugs. Most of cars I have owned in recent years have been autos so doesn't work. I doubt you will overshot the ramp unless it doesn't have a raised bar at the top end like most do.

Yeah you'd having to be going pretty hard to ride over that top bar.

Could you chock the rear wheels, jack the car up and slide the ramps under each wheel as far as it will go, then jack the car a bit higher and move the ramp under again, until it is at top of ramp

Good idea that, above. May also need some axle stands and short wooden planks for a bit of safety.

As above or use a block and tackle to drag it up the ramps

TBH I don't see why people are thinking this is a bad idea. I've done it and no issue at all. You creep it up, using your brakes, climb a bit and stop then go again it's easy. I probably wouldn't do it these days but only because if I needed to I would just get the floor jack.
