ok so ive taken my car to an auto electrician and the local holden dealer to be told "we cant do it" apprently i got hed led after market lights that replacement so heres some photos all i want to know is what globes and how i can do it myself (i drive i 2002 executive vy series 2)
From what i can gather from your question being asked after reading it 10 times you want to replace the head lights. You need to remove the front bumper to get access to the mounting bolts under the head light. Remove the front bumper screws under the bonnet, and remove the screw from the wheel arch, then pull each side of the bumper and should unclip.
if possible i would just like to replace the main globes as they do not work....or are you saying the only option i have is to replace the whole headlight unit
Unscrew the plastic cap at the back of the headlights. Unclip the headlight globes and withdraw them. Follow the wiring from the headlights back to the ballast units (little metal things about the size and half the thickness of a ciggy pack.) Follow the wiring from the ballasts to the battery and anywhere else they go.. and remove the lot. Then go to Autobarn or someone and say 'can I have some Phillips extreme +100 globes to fit my VY please', take them home and clip them in where the old globes came from, into the original connectors. HID globes last a long time though.. and I am guessing both sides are out? Its more likely to be the power supply wire to the ballasts is not connected properly to the battery, or a bad earth. To test this, just listen. If the lights are cold, switch them on with the engine off and listen. If the power is working correctly, you will hear the ballasts warm up, like a muffled jet engine sound rising in pitch as they warm up. The pro's wont touch them because they are illegal, and they arent allowed to be involved in illegal mods. They will remove them for you completely though, and replace them with legal globes, if you just go back and tell them thats what you want to do.
