Is it legal to have your headlight protectors tinted with the nightshades stuff? If a cop pulled you over for having black headlights, could you just take em off and no worries or would you get defected and fined, etc?

I think it would look good to have blacked out headlights on a black car. Stealthy

Do you have any idea how much the light output is diminished by tinting the protectors? Have you never wondered why you can't buy protectors in any colour, only clear perspex? That should answer your question. Yes, it is illegal. No. Being pulled over and taking them off to avoid a penalty won't happen - in NSW at least, you WILL be defected.

Nightshades is illeagal in SA wether your using the lights or not. Def for off road use only. With that said a mate had his tail lights & indicators done on his VR & never got hassled about it. Not to say that someone else wone have any trouble though.
