Headunit wont power on

I have a sony gtx570 head unit.

I've connected it to the car with the wiring harness adaptors i picked up from autobarn. the unit wont power on.

i dont know what to do from there.

deffinatly power to both constant an ignition wires on headunit?

i'm not sure what you mean, the factory headunit was working until the power to it was lost and it started to show CDE on the display.

i just went back to the car and checked all of the connections, whilst squeezing the plugs together i could make the car aerial go up and down i dont know what this means.

The harnesses usually have the CONSTANT and ACC cables around the wrong way. Try switching the cables and see how you go.

For reference:

Accesories - Yellow
Constant - Orange/White
Illumination - Brown/White
Earth - Black/White
12V OUTPUT - Yellow/Red
Radio Mute - Yellow/Black (VT onwards)
Antenna up - White (VR onwards)
Antenna down - Blue (VR onwards)
Illumination OUTPUT - Grey (VT onwards)

Speakers
Front Left (+) - Tan
Front Left (-) - Grey
Front Right (+) - Light/Green
Front Right (-) - Dark/Green
Rear Left (+) - Brown/Black
Rear Left (-) - Yellow/Blue
Rear Right (+) - Blue/Orange
Rear Right (-) - Blue/Black

quick note, disconnect your battery whilst doing this if you havent already done so, my first ever installation i spent hours going over all my wiring trying to figure out why it wouldnt work, only to discover i'd blown about 4 fuses, most likely at the start of the instalation when i was messing around with the power wire.. haha...
