Hey guys, YES another VE timing chain thread! LOL

I have a 2011 VE sv6 with a rooted timing chain.
My only question is any recommended kits? I’ve seen a bunch of cheap ones on eBay but a little weary of them - And been quoted about $1200 from Holden ( excluding labour )

Don’t mind paying the money just checking if anyone has any recommendations! Cheers

2011 should not be having chain issues, the problem chains were up to 2009
you may find more issues once you open it up, i would pull a rocker cover and see what the sludge looks like

Thanks mate I’ll have a look this week when I pull it apart, allthough I’m fairly certain it’s the chains - The rattle it was making was identical to all the timing chain rattles that I searched up. Also had no loss of oil pressure, was still running pretty much perfect besides the rattle. ( very loud rattle I’ll add )

not saying it isnt chains, just have a look before ordering parts as it may be more involved

I’d suggest doing the oil pump and guides too. Rev High do stuff that will work well enough.

So can almost pull the chains off with my hands LOL definitely f***ed. So anyone recommended best kit to buy??

Cars only done 100,000 kms so I’m pretty confident the oil pump should be all sweet. Cheers guys

1200 wont **** it. you need to do a whole kit including the idler sprokets. We do these at work all the time and all the V6 commodores have this issue. It's due to wear on the guides, idler sproketsand chain pins the chains don't stretch as such it's all wear related.

If you just do a chain swap you will have the CMP code come back in 10k or so. I know this because we have had warranties at work where we did only the chains.

If any one dissagrees thats fine if you want to believe them but you will regret it.
