dude... same as other threads in the vr/vs area

    1. do a code check... strangely enough.. its actually tells you what’s wrong most of the time..
    2. research..aka find out what other people have done to fix the problems with high fuel.. example changed 02 sensors or carbon clean or injector clean
    3. serviced the car recently?
    4. fuel filter replacement?
    5. check your wheels.. aka flat
    6. which fuel are you using?
    7. is the car running fine temp wise?
    8. give the car a bit of stick/try to be a pro racer?

all these things ya can look into

    hope this helps

Well lets start nice and simply, some of this has been mentioned above.

Firstly do an error code check, there is an easy HOWTO in the HOWTO section.

Any error codes? fix the problems.

Check fuel lines for any leaks trust me it happens.

    Replace filters E.G Fuel, Air

Change oil and replace oil filter at the same time.

    replace spark plugs and leads.

Clean throttle body and air inlet manifold

Run some injecter cleaner through the car along with a tank of premium high octane fuel of your choice.

The coolant temp sensors may be faulty as well these can cause the car to use excessive amounts of fuel, something to do with staying in warm up mode.

Good luck and keep us posted, maybe youve done half of these things, but we dont know yet, so lets eliminate what you have done, and what may need to be done.

oh one more thing, a tranny service can help too, you can pretty much do a basic service yourself, and are you really thrashing around and accelerating hard?

I made a good thread a while back cant remember what it was caleld something like "How to get better fuel economy out of my VS"

Oh one more thing, try getting your injectors removed and cleaned with an ultrasonic cleaner.

    hi,

l checked the codes (using the paperclip effort!) and got "code 12" 8x.

I've had the throttle cleaned out due to the car stalling a couple of weeks ago. It has stalled once since then. Not sure if this lil' bit of info will help but ever since l've owned the car (about 6 months) the coolant goes like crazy. I have to top it up each month due to it being nearly empty.

I don't know all that much about the mechanics of engines so if someone could give me the "idiots" version such as where to find it and what to do.

I've recently purchased a version of gregory's but am awaiting for it to arrive from the ebay seller...

I apprechiate any help l can get. I am a very active member on here and visit daily and do a search for a problem l encounter with the car.

I'm going to take the car for a service in the next couple of weeks (l have to get rego out the way first... leaving me short on $$). But l was thinking, since the previous owner didn't look after it (it seems to me) could the fuel filter be buggered due to overload of crap from filling up at a servo that could have been low on fuel? My car was fine until l filled it up one day at my work on my night off (so l was unsure what the dips were on the ultimate tank).

I've also put in the injector cleaner into the tank but put reg unleaded (which is a change since l usually only ever use ultimate).
