So my cars been impounded, it's pretty crushing because I love it more than anything and I've spent a lot of money on it. What's even worse is I don't typically "hoon" I did one bad thing and got caught, so what happened is my best mate got a new car and we decided to race from the lights, after we finished we were driving normally and pulled up behind police at a traffic light then they got out and told us to pullover up ahead when the lights go green, apparently they saw us as we drove past the servo estimating we were going 100 in a 60 zone, they impounded our cars but they didn't get any evidence (speed, video, etc.) all they have is we took off fast from the stop lights, we have to go to court at a later date. Is there any way I'd be able to get my car out early and how do you think The court will go about it?
I'm a first offender aswell. Thanks guys/girls

Go to court and prove your innocence
Doubt ya chance though

They determined hooning, racing at the lights and speeding in a 60 zone.

Hence hoon laws, hence impounded.

Cant have your cake and eat it too

Generally gotta wait till your 30 days is up. Sounds like the court doesn't apply points, they'll usually just decide on your fine and how long you lose your licence for. If you're really lucky, you might just have to do a defensive driving course and pay the fine. Then there are the impound/storage fees. Very likely you won't have change from $2500-3k once you're through with it all.

If you want to know where you stand then consult a lawyer that specialises in traffic offences.

The police witnessed you racing and no one is going to believe you were driving at or under 60 kph.

First offence? More like first time you have been caught committing a driving offence. Your lot won't be a danger to other road users whilst your cars are impounded and your licences are suspended.

If you want to race then join a car club and do your racing on a race track or drag strip.

Still "First offence", not "first act". It's only an "offence" when you get caught.

You won't get your car out early.....It's mandatory the impound time...

Over fees....My nephew had his 4X4 impounded recently in S.A....His car was released after the 30 days and the fees are going to be added to his court imposed fine, according to his solicitor......

How things will go....Depends on the magistrate at the time. Proving innocence will be difficult....Unfortunately the magistrates tend to lean towards the police's version of events, unless you have some sort of evidence to disprove them.
