    Sold my car :(
As i posted earlier I went to a mechanic for my driveshaft to a different city and when I drove back and drove the next day with the ac full on I noticed my fans were unplugged. The temp gauge was a piece of crap and is fake. It does not go up more then half no matter how HOT the car is. I noticed that my fans were unplugged when my radiator cracked a hair and water steamed out. The car (wh statesman caprice 2000) did not leak after the temperature became normal and I drove back home fine. The crack is a small pinhole which only leaks when the car goes hot when the fan are about to turn on. The car does not leak on the highway and the temperature is a quarter on the higway. The funny thing is that the car is operating normal just like before, one click start, no white smoke or any funny smoke and is running really good. So my question is did I blew a head gasket or is it my radiator which has cracked. I hate it when people screw you up. It just ruined my day.

well first of all change your radiator.. even a small crack in coolant system builds up pressure, and if your gauge is "fake" as you say, try and replace your temp sensor.

also have you checked for simple signs of a blown head gasket? milky sludge on the oil cap, oil in your coolant etc etc..

Thank you so much, Yes I am looking for signs of head gasket but found none. The car starts normally even if you start it after a week, one click start. No water in cylinder, no water in oil or oil in water. The engine oil and tranny oil are normal. I think it is the radiator because when I start the car the top radiator hose has low pressure and only when the car gets hot (near operating temperature when the fans kick in) the leak start and the top hose becomes loaded with pressure. Once I took it on the highway just when I started it and the car got cooling from the air, it did not leak untill I let it stand for 12 minutes on a parking lot. I will try to get a radiator. Is there any way I can fix the radiator leak, it is a pinhole crack on the side of the radiator at the plastic.

that's good you Dont have signs of a blown head gasket.

i wouldn't recommend fixing even a pinhole in the radiator, as the pinhole will soon turn into a crack due to the pressure, best bet is to get a new one. they aren't very expensive.

but while your at it to be on the safe side of things get a new thermostat about $12, a new temp sensor $30 and a new radiator cap $8.

and install it all and give the system a real good flush, bleed the system and see how you go.

    Thanks Dan.
