HELP could i need a new head?

    i bought a vt commodore series 2 v6 about 2 months ago , when i bought it i was told the radiator was leaking and shoudl get it repaired , i havnt been usuing the car as i still dont hve my license so it has mainly been sitting around , the coolant basically looks like water maybe the colour has just came out of it because it has been sitting around or the loser i bought it off had topped it up with water , how bad could the damage be or will it be alright if it hasnt been water for say longer than a year ? , i am getting it flushed and fixed sumtime this week will they be able to tell if i have problems , so far i havnt seen any water in my oil

    I don't think you need to worry, just give it a flush and fill it with coolant, not just any coolant, but one that meets the GMH specifications for the Holden V6.

    Yep, I'll second that. Especially if the car is going to be sitting around for a while, definately use the genuine holden coolant, or something that conforms to that standard. Using plain water or anything else will just end up corroding the water pump, radiator and everything else in the cooling system.

    will most of the head be eaten away already ?

    No, but get some coolant in there as soon as possible.

    A long time I should imagine. Many years ago there was no such thing as coolant, everyone used plain old water.

    Are u gettin the radiator replaced when all this is done???

    If so try & get a Copper Radiator cos i have seen a few VT's with electrolisis problems and with the alloy radiator they just eat away...

    turns out the radiator was fkd and had to get a whole new one costed 450 fully fitted
