Why not go old school....186 with a Ford 221 crank.....

I am in the process of piecing together one.....it's going to be fitted with a black 3.3 head, the injection manifold will be the feeder for the sc 14 supercharger.....Not sure whether I'll fit a 465 or 600 holley....

Gearbox is a supra 5 speed

some nice cam, head, extractors, and some big ports

Wow , if you go 202 , there are like so many options ..
Cams , heads , pistons , Short blocks , long blocks , how about fuel injection ?
There is no reason you cant build a seriously strong 202 for far less money than a V8 .
Think GTR XU1 ..
A nice strong bottom end , good pistons + rings , yella terra head + rollers , and a decent cam ..
Then for intake , Single carb ? Dual carbs , triple carbs , fuel injection .

How about a BLACK 202 ? (?) Dont know if anyone did anything good with the black ..

The blocks are all essentially the same with the exception of rear main seal types and a few extra mounting bosses used to mount ancillaries. The major difference between the red and blue block is the position of the coolant passages which is easy to modify to enable the use of the later 12 port head as found on blue and black engines.

The problem with the old sixes, is that parts are much more expensive than their v8 counterparts and the variety and availability of parts isn't even in the same league. The point is, if you spent the same amount on a 308 as you did on a 202, the little six wouldn't stand a chance.

Too many
A hot 202 is $4K+ depending on how hot you want it. But in a big H series holden I'd go a V8 any day.

Hot sixes are nothing new but I wouldn't bother when you're putting it in a WB.

Go a 253 until you can go bigger. Won't be that quick but will sound good and it's an easy/cheap conversion.

Leave the hot sixes to the Toranas.

Hmmm , a 12Port is said to be good to 240BHP with very good torque ..
And the 9 port is good to 400+ HP ( more up top )

And not all blocks are the same : Apparently the RED BLOCK Boys have their favorites to build on ..
12 PORT , usually built on Blue or black blocks ..
Hmmm , a fuel injected 240BHP BLACK 12 PORT ..

Nah mate you've been misled. For a 9 port to flow enough to make half decent power youd need to spend a couple of grand on head work.

Only reason to stick with a red block would be hq racing regulations.
