VY S1 V6 Berlina Wagon
Hey all,

I installed a new head unit into my VY berlina and it works perfectly. I wanted to try and keep the original antenna up/down function thats included on the 6 stacker berlina radios. Based on previous forum posts, I assumed that there would be three wires in charge of the antenna.
  1. White: Antenna Up
  2. Blue: Antenna Down
  3. Yellow/Red: Antenna Power
However opening up and looking there were none of these wires behind the holden plug for the head unit connection. So the part that confuses me is I found 2 wires which were TEL AF+ and TEL AF-, which were not connected to my after market head unit. These were both blue. I suspected these might be the antenna up/antenna down wires. I tried grounding out and adding 12v power to both these wires and nothing. Antenna didn't move and test light didn't light up so nothing.

So now I am stumped as to how the factory head unit antenna up/antenna down control works as that plug is the only connection along with the aerial signal wire to the factory head unit. My only theory is that the ANT. TRIG pin on the holden plug is what controls the up/down, but it must do something weird with the BCM as I believe that ANT. TRIG pin is connected to the after market headunit and used as the antenna power. Would this ANT. TRIG pin control the up/down? My only thought is that if you apply 12v/ground it goes up, and then the opposite will make it go down like when you reverse the polarity for electric motors.

I also found that on my factory 6 stacker, there is an extra pin but it has no label on the wiring diagrams. Again I have no idea if this is related to the antenna or not.

I was just wondering if anyone had similiar experiences, especially if they managed to get an antenna up/down switch working with an aftermarket headunit. Attached are some pictures with what I was working with.

Cheers.

I gave up on this project as antenna up and down on the adjustable height antennas is controlled by the BCM. To get it to work would be too much fuss and potentially screw up the BCM, so instead I just wired a SPST on/off switch along the antenna power wire on my headunit. Now it is either fully up or fully down without the inbetween control which is good enough for me.
