Yep. Save up and stuff a blower on it. I'd do cam to suit as well. Definitely need converter.
Having said that we are into at least double your budget so if that is out of the question you are on the right path with your initial choices.

Diff and converter first. Will still drive great with stock components with histall and shorter gears.

If you do cam first, you won't enjoy it as much as you would with gears and stall. And depending on the cam size they can be a little more difficult to live with.

You will likely need to get the auto recalibrated after the diff ratio change.
