Hey guys, im just wondering if there is any easy way of getting rid of the ugly grey trim on the front and rear doors? Looking for a DIY solution and the least costly. Thanks in advance.
Yep you can buy leather sets, from a Calais/statesmen. but in most cases the grey trim matches the seats, if i was you i would look for a complete interior set, seats and door trims. very easy to change as well, just take the door trim off (plenty of threads on here telling you how to do that) and there a just 2 screws and 4-6 clips in the back holding them in and just slide out the old one and slide in the new one. Edit: just found these, never knew that existed, they are just covers that go over your ones. Holden VY VX VT VZ custom made leather door trim covers | eBay
Sorry mate, maybe i should of asked my question abit clearer. Im actually talking about the trim on the exterior of the two doors, about half way up the doors. Sorry about that.
I'm gonna DIY it, I went and bought blue fabric from spotlight, and in a couple weekends time when I have spare time, in going to put it in. This is the method I'm going too follow: StreetWagons.com • View topic - Re-triming Door cards
Hi Parabolo, sorry but i didnt really word my question right. Im actually talking about the grey trim along the outside of my doors about half way up. Haha hope that clarifies things a little better. Also, im guessing if i remove the grey trim ill have to replace it with a different colour trim?
The trolley strips? If so then you should be able to gently pull it off or use fishing wire to help get it off. You dot have to put anything on there if you don't want too, or if you want it a different color just masking tape a newspaper th car surrounding it and paint it, if that makes sense?
Awesome mate, sounds easier then i thought it would be. So pretty much its just clipped on? Or is it glued on? I dont really want to start pulling at it and realise im going to leave behind some glue marks. If it is just clipped on, where abouts are the clips, and is there a easy technique on getting them off?
Nah they're glued on mate. If you search "removing VT trolley strips" there should be plenty of threads on exactly what to do.
