VZ Sv6
Hi, I am pretty clueless when it comes to car audio. I have a VZ (sv6 but I dont think the model makes any difference) and a 12" Kicker Ex sub and box which I had in a previous car that I would like to put in. I am not that into stereos so dont need a huge system, but would like to connect this sub since I have it and get some decent base

1 - Using that wire loom and connector thing on ebay can I use the stock head unit ?

2 - What kind of amp (like channels etc) and power (watts?) would be required to run the sub ? - any cheap suggestions ?

3 - What else do I need ? - wires etc ?

Thanks for your help guys

Generally you need RCA leads to run from the headunit to the amp, you can get basic sub wiring kits or you can buy all the stuff seperately (i bought a Stinger wiring kit because im lazy lol).
About the Amp i guess we need to know what power the sub has. It should be written on the sub, or hopefully you have instructions for it or a model number so it can be looked up online.

What you will need is a LOC (line out converter) which will convert speaker wires into RCAs. You just tap into the rear speaker wires before they go into the rear doors and run these to the LOC, then out of the LOC to the amp. Theres a guy on here called Phreddy who can modify your stock head-unit to have RCA outputs also.

For the remote input on the amp you'll need to tap into the stereo wiring and get a wire that turns on with the stereo, not too sure if you can use the power antenna wire or not but i know the ACC wire has worked for me in the past.

Alternatively you can purchase an amplifier with "high level" inputs, which allows you to connect the speaker wires straight to the amp, without the need for a LOC, some also have signal sensing which means the amp will turn on when there is a signal.

As for an amp, a simple 2 channel amplifier bridged will run that subwoofer fine, look for something with around 250-350wrms in bridged mode. I would expect you could pick one up for $150-$200 brand new.
