Hello! So i am in the middle of replacing the centre bearing on tailshaft of a vy-spack auto and have tried so many things to get the old bearing off to replace with the new one and it seems impossible, i have spoken with 2 mechanics who said the vy auto's tailshaft bearings are "near impossible to get off" and have not had success with them.

Just hoping i could find out from the community if anyone knows anything about getting them off i have looked at just purchasing a new tailshaft but the ones i could find all require Centre bearing replacements haha... praying someone can help cheers

I can't remember if it's these ones but I think you have to bolt it to a slide hammer and hammer it off.
The splines can seize up. This is why I'm going to get a texas twister for my long barrel air hammer.

If you have a lathe and welder and are set up to balance shafts it would be quick to just cut and shut it.

Yes i took it a guy who deals with tailshafts etc and thats exactly what he did, cut weld balance etc. I did have a crack with a hammer but wouldnt budge at all much easier dealing with them haha

They do come apart with care, hammer and wood, sometimes the inner spline circlip jams if broken. good you got a balance done, even when done properly they tend to vibrate a tiny bit with a new bearing.
