I've got a 2003 VY Executive Wagon and lately it's been, what best can be described as "skipping" or "jumping" when I accelerate.

It usually happens when I'm cruising at around 1500-1750 revs and then when I accelerate (gently) the engine seems to "skip/jump" a couple times. If I accelerate harder it doesn't happen as often.

It also happens at varying speeds.

Any suggestions much appreciated (am not a rev-head so keep it simple for me!!).

    Cheers. :)

Check your spark plug leads with a multimeter. I think you might find there may be one that is open circuit. There is also a max. resistance but not sure what it is off hand. If the leads are OK check the spark plugs then coil packs.

Possibly spark plugs are cracked, how long since they've been replaced? If you can't replicate the problem at idle with your head in the bonnet it might be hard to diagnose. I would think sparks plugs, cheap and easy to replace. Worth a try. If this doesn't fix it, then look at leads and then coils. Or wait till it gets worse so you can diagnose at idle.

You could also check for error codes if any, need to buy a cable off ebay or pay a mechanic to check though, cable's handy to have.
