Hi guys im new here and a total newb at installing stuff in my car so be nice. I am getting an 88 commodore in a few months when i get my p's but until then i am using an old 86 barina. Its basically a suzuki swift with a dif name. I was looking at installing newer speakers into it as the tiny stock speakers are really annoying me with their tinsley sound and when i had a look at the speakers in the back i was surprised to find that it wasnt just speakers wire connected to then they had these weird plugs. They look just like the ones in this like. except they are obviously stock and areconnected to the speaker wire. http://images.google.com.au/url?q=h...az.jpg&usg=AFQjCNFb6LbjhvLPea1imUW4G1ddZStu6A The problem is that there is no way to disconnect them without cutting the wires and i really dont want to do that incase i stuff it up then i will have no music which would be worse. What im trying to find out is how i would go about using this connector to hook up speaker wire to normal car speakers. ie what would i have to buy ect ect. Any help is appreciated guys Cheers
There are two ways: 1. Solder wires onto each terminal and insulate each wire using heatshrink tubing. 2. Strip the insulation (without cutting the copper) behind the plug and solder your new speaker wires to these, insulate using electrical tape. This is done easiest by buying a wire stripper, they come in handy for lots of elec. work so are a good investment. See links below, they are the tools/parts you'll be needing if you dont have them.
