[HELP] VS Ute Manual Gears are Extremely Loose,

Yo Guys, Ever since i bought this car i have been trying to work out why my Gears are so loose? To me it feels like the gearbox is too far forward.... For example in 1st gear it almost touch the headunit in my car, I can also move the gear stick in circles whilst its in GEAR!! Please help me?

I take it its either a series 2 or series 3? with the getrag manual.

They are horrible for play in the shifter, just as bad as the old Volksy beetles lol.

My mate's getrag converted calais has the same issue and i'm pretty sure its flogged out shifter linkages. I'm yet to sus it out tho

Just about have to be linkages, its not a direct gearstick into the gearbox so wear in the linkages makes the gearstick move around more to take up the slack everywhere.

if its like playing with a spoon into a pudding mixture its nothing much to worry about.
so long as you can actually select the gears then its normal.

if you really want to fix it then go for it.

otherwise if it is the getrag then its just a common problem
