Vt v6 at 80/h in 5th gear.. Don't expect too much mate, higher up in the km/h does it pickup?

Well, your 5th gear is overdrive,Overdrive (OD) is a term used to describe a mechanism that allows an automobile to cruise at sustained speed with reduced engine RPM, leading to better fuel economy, lower noise and lower wear.
Use of the term is confused, as it is applied to several different, but related, meanings. The most fundamental meaning is that of an overall gear ratio between engine and wheels, such that the car is now over-geared and can no longer reach its potential top speed,

Yeah you shouldn't need to shift up to fifth until you reach 90+ maybe even 100....I know mine sits at its lowest rev's when doing 110-120 after just changing up to fifth and it sits around 1200-1500...mines a VY auto but they"re both ecotech engines so not a huge difference...2,000 seems a tiny bit high but not enough to worry about, might just need a service.

The service you just had. Was that with gearbox oil changed?
The firt time on the freeway ever with the car or since the service and its noticeably lacking power compared to pre service???
If they changed the gear oil. Did they put the right oil back in.
T5 uses Trans fluid with PTFE treatment. If they put gearbox oil in it theres the problem.
    More info would help.
