This one is close to our hearts and they need a bit of help getting more material to progress the study.

A big part of our time is spent in the hospital system and with disability care with our son. We notice that our daughter has been affected by that experience. Put to the side a bit because of the seriousness of what we’ve been through. This has had an affect on how she sees the world and getting support for her has been difficult. Siblings go through a lot too. There isn’t enough study done on siblings and how they experience disability. Not much support is there and this kind of learning will help develop better outcomes for them.

The study is being conducted by Telethon Kids Institute and University of Western Australia.

They are wanting kids 4-12 years old to draw their siblings. The families involved don’t have to have a disabled sibling.

I probably don’t explain it as well as they do but get the kids to draw a picture of their brothers and sisters. Then submit it to the study.

I can vouch that there is no untoward motives. It can be anonymous or you can put your name to it. There are a lot of hurdles UWA and Telethon have to jump through to make sure everything is done correctly, secure and safe.

Telethon raise a lot of money for sick kids here in WA. Telethon Institute is often making breakthroughs in medicine and care. Internationally recognised for their work.

I thought some Just Commodores families might be willing to join the study.

Anyway. Have a read and see for yourself:

*would be good to share this with friends and family too. The more pictures they get, the better the outcome of the study.

To get it happening, way down the bottom is the consent link. Click yes and click next page.
There is a questionnaire for the parent or guardian to fill out about the kids, and the kids need to do the drawing.
