Also just to add i noticed you also said you were confused about what types of amplifiers there are.
Basically the mount of channels the amplifier has, is the amount of outputs it has, or how any components it will support.
A mono block (mono = one) single channel output amplifier - Designed for running a subwoofer.
2 channel - 2 channels of output - Designed for running 2 speakers, so a left and a right for example.
4 channel - 4 channels of output - Designed for running 4 speakers, front left / right, and rear left /right.
That's just the basics of it, different wiring configurations can allow for amplfiiers to support additional components but that's not really relevant in your situation so i wouldn't worry about it.
