I was wondering if anyone knew much about keys. I have a 2011 holden thunder ute. Long story short i lost one key. Have the other one, which would'nt be a problem except it wont work remotely at all. So have to manually unlock the vehicle, which sets off the alarm until the key is then in the ignition. Is there anyway to fix this without costing me too much?
Would appreciate any input.

Buy another key, get both coded to the car.

Can't do one. The is assuming nothing is wrong with car end.

Could be remote battery.

Replace the battery in your current one then go to a local auto locksmith. Theyll charge you roughly 150 to cut and program a new key.

I used a mob just off the main drag at Newstead.
About $220 from memory, it takes awhile as they have to program the new and the old key via tech2. This is half the price of Holden.

Sounds like Amalgamated Locksmiths, they are good, very happy with them, I had a Key that failed, as per one of my previous threads,
I purchased a Key off them, that was cut to the Key code,
received it, and programmed in, worked perfectly,
Need to as for Wayne, he is who I dealt with.

I used River City Locksmiths on Oxley Rd, Oxley about a year ago for my VZ key, a new case with my old metal key programmed to the car was $100. Pretty sure to get a new key cut as well was an extra $50. They have a machine that they plug the key into and it sets up the codes. Reminds me I need to get my spare done as well since its flat too.

It might be since keys are a couple hundred to be programmed that its just a cut key without the programming...?
