Hi guys, does anyone know how to remove the speaker grille on a VY II S without taking the doorcard off? I have 2 Blaupunkt 12" subs that sound sweet but it's time to upgrade the door mounted speakers.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can remove the speakers without taking off the doorcard but it's a bit tricky.
The speaker grills as far as i know are a part of the door card and cannot be removed on their own.
Taking off the doorcard is pretty easy and hassle free so that's what i'd be doing.
Pm me if you need a guide.

What Juz said  - you CAN do it without removing the trim, but you'll end up with a MUCH better job - both aesthetically AND audibly - if you do it properly. And unfortunately that involves removing the "door card". (never heard it referred to as that before, but it works...) ;)

In reality, you'll need to remove not only the door trim, but also the plastic mounting plinth so that you con firmly mount those nice units. If you do it that way, there won't be any nasty scars, plus you'll be able to mount the replacement speakers PROPERLY. Those in the know will attest to the fact that mounting the speaker firmly is even more important than the brand/quality of the speaker itself - and seeing as you're going Alpine, give them the best chance of performing to the best level they can. It'll wind up being worth it in the end, believe me.

    Cheerz!
