hey guys i have a vr 94 acclaim, with irs.
me and my co-workers cannot figure out the problem for the life of us,
ok so here is the problem..
Below around 2.5-3K rpm the engine kind of sputters/hesitates and/or misses so i wont go really anywhere if say if i go up a hill, go for a gap in a round-about or when i just put my foot down, but after about 3 revs it's fine and throws you back in your seat....
ive changed fuel filter, plugs, leads, coils and dfi on several occassions (i now have about 12 coils and 3 dfi's sitting around..) and also my 02 sensor. I ran the computer through and no toruble codes and also scoped the o2 sensor and no problems at all, it's only happeneing under load.. it does need an oil change but i didnt think that could be the problem, and also i did get my gearbox serviced about a month or two ago.
please help this is absolutely driving me insane.
    thank you,
    Dillon

Does the car use coolant....meaning ANY coolant even if it is 100ml a week, because if it does then it may indicate a leaking inlet manifold or head gasket that is allowing coolant into the combustion chambers - this will be most evident in the lower rev range. I'd also screw out plugs and check the nose - make sure they all are similar colour - one that is a different coulour could indicate coolant leaking into that cylinder. While the plugs are out do a compression check....this will check valves/rings. How are the vacuum hoses. Try cleaning the throttle body.
Good Luck and welcome to the forum.

    thank you :)
and ive taken off the throttle body and completely cleaned it out, looks new, i have also done the inlet manifold gasket recently, and i also replaced radiator and hoses at the same time aswell, and the hoses dont look too bad i will have another at work tomorrow, could the thermostat be a problem?

Thermostat no. if it was it would be overheating...
Things I would be looking at would be the fuel pump, fuel regulator and the fuel injectors.
If those are ok then maybe check the TPS....

Could be the ECU itself. Have you a spare to swap and test?

nah i dont have a computer or spare sensors hanging around but im sure i can find something, and the vacuum lines look good, and another note lately ive noticed it's rough when i start it in the morning and sometimes even the revs can drop off.. and the car shuts off but only in the morning for eg. ill drive it to work n it wont run from 7.30-1 and it starts fine then it starts fine again at 5 when i finish it's only in the morning.
I had a look on the hoist today too and i have no leaks, and im not using oil or water, is there any other ideas cuz the fuel pump etc.. is a pain to check etc. :)
