I was thinking of a way to put the VK in my garage so can strip it right down and not worry about it being out in the weather. My problem is I have a double garage and need to keep my Pajero in there as well, and I didn't think there was any point having the VK in there as well but not being able to get to one side that well as it would be up against one wall. Those speed jack things you put under the wheels that jack the car up and let you slide the car around would be ideal, but they're close to 500 bucks for four of them. Then I thought about getting some box tube steel, 50x50, and basically fabricating four squares that each tyre will sit in, then bolting a heavy duty castor wheel to each corner. This will let me drag it into the middle when I'm working on it, and push it back when I'm done. I have a mate who can get the steel, so I'm only really up for the wheels.

What do you guys think? Would it work? My driveway slopes away from the front of the garage so I can't push it in and out when I work on it.

If you were to do it. Make sure they are fully welded and nice penetration.
Get castor wheels with brakes on them too.

Yeah my mate is a boilermaker for a mine equipment manufacturer, I've seen his welds and they're Mickey Mouse.

Bunnings have some nylon swivel castors for about 8 bucks each. It says they're rated at 120 kgs each, silly question but does that mean 16 of them will easily support one and a half tons?

Change of plans, gonna make a cradle to sit the car on, using the jacking points, still on castor wheels to move it around inside the garage. I'll sus out the measurements tomorrow. Hopefully get it done next weekend.

No useful updates unfortunately. It's still in the same condition as a few weeks ago. Picked up a Gregory's manual for ten bucks, fair bit of info in it. It'll help me do stuff without using google for a change.
