Im proud of owning this car although the rear camber issue with the tyres and the 15 mpg (18.8 litre/100km) is a pain here.

I think its 0-60 feels the same as or maybe slightly slower than my 1991 nissan 200sx s13 1.8t which i have tuned to 320bhp (238.62kw) but when the HSV gets into 3rd,4th and 5th it really comes into its own. And 6th is bliss on the motorway :D[/url]

i'd get the L/100km checked out.. seems like a hell of alot.. but in saying that i dont own one so maybe it's what it's meant to be...

the stock weight of the nissan is 1072 kg (2358.4 lbs) roughly... and the weight of the HSV will be around about the 1522kg (3348.4 lbs) mark, so im guessing it seems a little slower because the kw difference is only roughly 60kw (80 hp) the weight difference is 450kg (990 lbs) is in effect cancelling it even though the power in the V8 is more..

and yes i agree.. V8 any day over ricers!

Great car, I imagine you'd get quite a few people asking just what it is though, since they'd be fairly rare there. I've got a few mates in Britain, and usually when I show them photos of HSVs they're quick to point out that they look like a riced up Vauxhall.

Seeing this in the UK reminds me of the top gear review Jeremy clarkson did on your car (YouTube - *HQ* Top gear Clarkson HSV VT GTS series 1 5.7). Hahaha I love the part when he drives through the small quiet country town and then they show the aftermath of what the v8 caused lol hehe golden.

anyway back to your car, good to see it in the UK. I imagine that wouldn't be cheap to own over their, so you should be proud of it. how hard is it to get aftermarket parts for it over there? or do you have to get them from the US and Australia?

A fellow Englishman :)

I always wanted a Monaro when I lived in Blighty but the fuel costs where too high. As soon as moved over here, first thing I bought was a V8!

I get roughly the same mpg out of my ute round the city, sometimes it goes as high as 22 lp100. So I wouldn't worry to much.

Do you use it as a daily driver or just a weekend toy?

Thanks all
nice car mate, what exhaust is on it, stock or have you changed it? a 2.5" twin with straight through mufflers will make everyone break their neck. as for the camber, you can get camber kits here from just about any suspension or tyre retailer, im sure someone will be able to send one to you. as for 18lt/100 sounds a bit high? im assuming your doing crappy short driving or have a lead foot :D

cool i'll look into a camber kit, i think it had an exhaust upgrade to the 2.5" twin with straight through mufflers when the first owner brought it, it sounds ace :D

Yep i get that too  people tend to ask if its a modified vauxhall omega or vecta.

That one in the vid is the VT1 mines the VT2.
Its not cheap no.
We have some good specialists here but people mainly use Welcome to monkfish - the big fish is always right!! who can get the parts and have built some monsters. check out their site.

I try to use it as a weekend toy :D

Before the ressesion me and my girlfriend was looking for jobs over there as at the time they needed Floor Fitters and ive been an industrial floor fitter for 6 years, girlfriend has been security checked and has done admin work for the M.O.D and DVLA etc, but now ive been made redundent and girlfriend laid-off it'll be a struggle at the mo :(

I also have a 1998 Fiat Cinquecento 1.1 Sporting :w00t: which is my daily driver,
there is a HUGE differance between 56bhp and 400bhp :yeah: but its really cheap to run.

and have u though that because of your high fuel consuption, you could have a falty oxy sensor(i think) because thats pretty high, some of my mates are gettn around 11.5

ok cool, i shall have a look at that sensor when i get the car back, its having a gearbox rebuild at the mo. i dont know anybody else personally who has one but i think there is someone with a vt2 gts-r-uk about 40 miles away. there are a few owners in the uk that have them though, the main club/forum is hsv drivers club

nice clan ride dude, but i'd have to say, is the head-turning qualities enough to offset the pain it's be to get spare parts? we got wreckers with tons of bits, must be fun looking for the odd piece or two...

its hard enough looking for parts for my 200sx s13 but looking for the gts is a right pain, the gearbox isnt 100% corvette because hsv put some of their own bit in it too. took about a month to get the parts from australia.

but i like the car, had some coppers drive along side me on the motorway once looking at the car, wish i could of shown them what it can do :yeah:
