    Hi everyone,
been a while since I have been on here, but thought I would throw up a quick post with my new project I am starting to get organised to start sometime in the near future.
So our VX ecotec has just hit 465000km, and even though it is still going strong, (and we drive it hard, like we have since I bought it with 60000km), we thought it was time to start prepping a new engine and box for it. We have been putting some cash aside for it for the last 12 months, and now it is time to start getting parts ready.
Last week I picked up a S1 VX berlina LS1 off a mate for $600, the body work it terrible and the interior is wrecked and the auto wont select reverse by itself, you have to set the car up so it will roll backwards half a metre or so before it will engage. So over the coming months I am going to start ordering parts and rebuild the LS1, and once I have everything sitting here ready I am going to convert the vx V6 to an LS1 and give it a new lease of life.
I am still researching and trying to decide exactly what I am going to do to the engine while it is out. I am going to strip it down bare and refresh the lot, get bores measured and block checked, new pistons, rings, bearings, oil pump etc. But am also looking at getting a nice cam for it and maybe some CNC'd heads as well. And find another gearbox lol. I spoke to the engine builder that helped me rebuild our mazda 626 turbo, and he has given me a few ideas on where to look at and reckons as long as the engine has been well looked after the bores should not be too far OOR (has 220000km)and in in a condition just to lightly bore out and keep it within specs, but we wont know until we get to the point. fingers crossed lol. Still got to decide on exhaust systems, mounts, tailshaft, intake etc. so a lot of decisions but have now started.
I will keep updating as I get all the parts ready.
Feel free to let me know your thoughts and ideas, and anything you think I should be looking out for in the process.

cheers corhijasna, going to be stripping the berlina down and swapping out most of the looms to suit so the sedan gets the climate control and cruise control as well. still not sure which way I wanna go with the gearbox whether I stick with the auto or drop a manual in considering everything is coming out anyway.
Will chuck up some photos of our inventory soon lol. Currently trying to fit 4 cars into a townhouse with builders coming in and out rebuilding the bathrooms is a real pain lol. need to sell the mazda so we can bring the ls1 wags around. Am wanting to clean and smooth up the engine bay as well while we are at it and paint the bay to match the rest of the car. looking at hiding as much of the engine bay wires as well while it is all apart.

Sounds like you know what you are getting yourself into. Should be good when it's done. May I suggest starting a thread in the my ride section on this forum?
