Hey guys, I recently got some new high flow cats fitted on my 2005 VZ V6 commodore which already had a 2.5 Redback Catback system. Prior to this, the car sounded decent with a loud and deep note, but now it makes a higher pitched somewhat raspy note around the 3000rpm mark of which I'm not too stoked with. While it's below 3k it still sounds the same as before. So is this how the car will sound from now on or will it deepen as times goes by, and is this due to the type of high flow cat that was used or would most others sound similar on my specific vehicle? The car feels more responsive but I just don't like the note as you'd think it was some **** ricer if you heard it. Any replies are much appreciated. Cheers!

High flow cats and Alloyec = fail. Might quieten down over time but the raspiness will probably always be there.

Hi-flow cats almost always bring a raspier sound.
I'd honestly put the stock cats back on.

As above, typical of the alloytec after fitting high flow cats. Especially if you have them fitted in place of the resonators under the car.

Not to try and push the Manta, but the only system I have heard that sounds any good with high flow cats is the Manta twin 2 1/4" into single 3". It's a deeper note than all the others, it does get higher pitched with the addition of high flow cats, but it is no where near as raspy as most other systems. The Redback is particularly raspy and high pitched anyway.

The only way to fix it is to fit the resonators back in after the cats. There isn't a hell of a lot of room, but it can be done.

Damn...if I knew this I wouldn't have got them, although my cats needed to replaced I'd have just gone with the standard type again. I guess I don't have much of a choice except try and get used to it until I buy a new car. They are stainless steel by the way.

On a different note, I was also thinking about getting a tune done which I was told would cost $800. For those of you who have got their cars tuned, or have knowledge of it, is this worth the money and what exactly does it involve? I should mention that apart from the exhaust I have a cold air intake and the manifold insulators from Mace. Thanks for the feedback everyone.
