Hello everyone here, i've been browsing around on this forum for about a week, as i was looking at some cars, i've had my licence since may i used to have a little corolla that got written off, some drunk fool ran into the back of me. Anyway today i got my hands on a 1992 vp commodore from a guy my dad knows, it has a little problem with it's electrics, the fuse that does the park lights and the dash lights was melted. My dad is a toyota mechanic, and knows quite a few people in the car buisness that will take a look at my car and hopefully it isnt anything to seirous, but other than that it's in pretty good condition, it's had a recondition, steering rack, and transmission been done on it. I guess you want some pics. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v45/Seamless/IMG_1316.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v45/Seamless/IMG_1314.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v45/Seamless/IMG_1313.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v45/Seamless/IMG_1312.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v45/Seamless/IMG_1311.jpg
welcome to the forums, enjoy your stay, plenty of helpful people round here, vp looks neat mate, i like it
Love that sticker too man...tis awesome hehe. Some suggestions if you wanted them? I'd probably take the bades off too. I just took the Holden Berlina badges off mine. And an exhaust tip would set off the back of the car.
Yeah vpallme it's an awsome car. I'm just a little worried, i know my dad doesn't like commodores very much, and he says they have alot of problems. but with this car besides that melted fuse thing, which was probally caused by the guy who had it before me he had a really sound system in it an may not of done it correctly. It seems to be in a good condition, and i do really really like the car, im just scared it going to cost me alot of money :\
Parts for your commodore are gonna be alot cheaper than for your corrolla man. Commodores are a reliable car, they'll travel a helluva lot further than a corrolla will. The engines are near bullet proof. Plus it'll only set ya back $350 for a decent engine second hand even if something major did go wrong
Well thanks for letting me know, you know you guys put my mind at ease, kinda.. Thanks anyway guys, i really love my commodore XD
welcome mate. the vp should be a reliable car if serviced and looked after properlly, so you shouldn't have too much to worry about. how many Km's on it? i bet the list of mods is long, lol. i know mine is. first mod i did was take the badges off. some 17's on it would look sweet. but one step at a time mate.
man car looks sweet..i got my VN completely stock aswell...first things i did was the seat covers, floor mats etc. then i went on to the stereo cd player, rear speakers etc. then i got my mags, removed my badges...then i ran outta money lol...still waiting to save enough to lower it, get a cold air intake etc.. take care of it man.. and the dudes are right its so cheap to get parts for the VN/VP..its a very common car so lots of wreckers and retailers (autobarn, super cheap) always have parts in stock at reasonable prices..
just check some idiot has not loaded boot with something that shorted the tail/parks, false or open earths can be a real pain, i say this because I just fixed a 87 Toyota Camry, I like ditching stock fuses and fitting at a price, fixed auto resetables. A bit like Dear old MR HQ did withthe thermal cut out if highbeam left on to long, can you older farts remember?
