As discussed here are some of the parts I used. The fittings I used are Speedflow here's their catalogue - ISSUU - Speedflow 2015 Catalogue by Speedflow Products Pty Ltd

ok fair enough. just assumed cutting into the stock petrol tank was a no no... so what does that mean for the floater info that gets sent to my fuel gauge needle? being the sender unit came out a completely different tank....

pretty sure my cluster unit has a 60-90 switch on the back too so...

well (im assuming the sending unit is the same/similar to the silverado) the swirl pot sits on the base of the fuel tank and the top gets compressed down. the sending unit stops level with the base of the swirl pot, so thats your 0 mark. its quite possible that the sender will stop before it reaches a full tank, so you may have to get used to 5/6's being a full tank. pretty sure the resistance will be the same over the whole swing. my 1966 impala and the 1996 silverado shared the same resistance, so chevy didnt make any real changes over 30 years, so i doubt holden did. if thats the case, we just use the original wire from the VP loom and thats it.

we need to runs a few extra wires, such as power to the pump, fuel tank pressure sensor etc. but thats no biggie.

im looking into getting the long range tank, shouldn't be too overly priced. so i take it were going to cutting an access hole in the boot floor for this unit....

could we possibly gut the stock sender leaving only the floater, and put the wh unit next to it out of the way? keep the original signal to the cluster?

well thats the idea anyway, let you know if it works.

i dunno if it will ryder, move the coil packs to the fire wall or inside the cabin like most people.

Cause with that bracket there i dunno how the spark plug leads will sit, i can see them being on an angle and touching/rubbing or even be long enough using a normal LS set.

And if you need to make a set long enough to fit, might as well do a full reallocation set of leads instead.

i really dont want to relocate the coil packs to firewall, or anywhere else. cant stand having a bunch of spaghetti everywhere. if i do decide to use this idea ill have to get some leads that will be a little longer no doubt. at least for the back 2 coils. ill be waiting for the omg no comments lol. i can stomach this better than having stuff bolted to my firewall...

but anyway here it is. this is a test to see if it will be plausible, i cut some spacers out of alloy tube. if i make a proper set ill make love to it, do the other side too so it matches (can leave those ones in the stock location so can use same leads) tack the nuts on the back, finish all nice paint wrinkle black or something. maybe hollow out some of the inner of the plate for airflow. it seems to clear the booster ok, its pretty close though.
