    VY one ton ute
I have a VY (04) one ton ute with standard seats . Due to my height and girth I find the car harder to get into than a 2000 lancer , and when I do the seat is way too high .
Is there a bucket seat from another Commodore of similar vintage that has height adjustment ?
At least my interior is black so pretty easy to match .
    Just a note -
I am not familiar with Holdens since the WB . I have mostly been using Rice grinders ( jap imports and a Pajero that I had fore over a decade ( 0 problems that one )) since then .
Only just bought the tonner , I went out looking for an AU to BF Falcon and came home with a Holden because I wanted an Automatic ( I am almost 60 and sick of shifting gears ) and almost all of the Falcons I looked at had at least some issues with their Automatic boxes some quite bad , so now I have a Holden !
So if anybody knows of seats with height adjustment that can easily be fitted to the VY one ton ute please let me know

my VY exec series II has height adjustable seats, very surprising that yours does not.
dads Vy exec also has height adjustable seats, mates vy berlina has height adjustable seats.
find a vy that isn't yours, take the seats out and go to an auto elec.
you know there's buttons on the side of the seat right?

As interloper said, you sure there is not a lever on the side of the drivers seat, and if it is there maybe you have blown a fuse or the motor is burnt out.

If you do not have an adjustable seat then all you would really need is the base with motors and controls for the drivers side and just swap over to your seat then get it wired..

Make sure you get the levers and side panels for the base you buy.

Sorry, just realised you have the tonner so that explains no adjustment, so see if the wreckers have a working seat base with motors for drivers side.
Try the Redcliffe Wreckers also Boondall Wrecking, Sandgate Wrecking, Kelly at Zillmere, Rode Road opposite the entrance to Prince Charles Hospital, Narangbah Wrecking, Ford Holden 4x4 at Brendale, and one on South Pine Rd Brendale, are just some I can think of.

Should be the same but no guarantees, check them before you part with the money.

Is it a "S" apparently available as part of the "S" package ,
Was an option in mine ( non "S" VY base model ) at extra cost . An option not taken by the original purchaser !

Make sure they are VYII or VZ seats as VY series I going back are slightly different. Mainly the plugs. I discovered this the hard way when restoring my ute. L shape brackets had to be made so there wouldn't be any problems. I'm restoring a VYII work ute for a friend of mine. I'll take a photo of under the driver seat as I have VYI seats we're going to install.

If you are after seats, get either the full leather or leather/fabric ones. Don't stuff about with full fabric seats as they are very worn. Hit the wreckers first before you go on eBay/gumtree or you might be paying a fair bit in freight. I found mine in Newcastle 2 hours south drive of me but it took me 8 months to find what I wanted without paying an excessive price.

Have you checked to see if the wiring harness plugs are actually poking through the carpet there somewhere under your current seats ? (to plug the electric adjustable seats into)
Reason why I ask is because:
The missus and I have a base model VY ute that we use as a runabout and it has no electric windows or electric seats. (doesn't even have ABS)
I have had a quick look and I cannot see any wiring plugs poking through the carpet to plug into the electric adjustment seats.

The VYII base model ute I'm working on at the moment has plugs for the seats & are adjustable. It has no electric windows which are a pain.

If it's got no plugs then you can remove the seats & put on something aftermarket that's comfortable. There should be one there at least for the warning light for the seat belts when you haven't connected them in.

I should have mentioned that our VY ute is a series 1.
The seat belt warning light on the dash illuminates when you turn the ignition on, but goes out when the car is started and you don't have your belt on. I just checked it again to be sure.
So I presume from that little experiment that there is definitely not going to be any wiring there for electric seats if it is a base model with no upgrades.
Not surprised at all really, as I have seen more than a few base model VY Tonners, Utes and Crewmans over the years like this.

    # Leaves the OP with the option of buying a really good quality aftermarket seat.
    # Or he could possibly still fit an electric adjustable seat and have an auto electrician wire it up so the adjustments work.

Fairly sure wiring to seats is simply power and earth.

yep just hard wire it in , its only the calais/statesman seats that have the memory function that makes it a bit hard

The VYII's & VZ's got the ding dong noise reminding you to put your seatbelt on. Hence the reason why they used different plugs as I found out with the VZ SVZ seats I bought. The VYII ute I'm working on is a Nov '03 & it has it.

I don't even have the ding dong noise !
Mine still has the ecotech motor not the alloytech .
My local Mechanic advised me to avoid the alloytech .
So early 04 not late .
But I have started searching for some VY seats with as close colour to mine as I can get ( black with black trim )
One wrecker suggested that Vx buckets would bolt up but was not sure about something with the seatbelts not fitting or something did not quite catch it ( I am oldish and my hearing is sub-par )

After owning my VZ 1 Tonner for over 3 years now I have come to the conclusion that they are slightly different to a VZ S or SS ute.
Mine is the S model, so it has electric windows, electric seats, ABS, SS front bumper.. but no fog lights & there is no wiring harness there for them either.
Mine doesn't have the chime either to remind you to put your belt on and my instrument cluster is only a basic level 1 cluster.
The one thing I have noticed since owning it though is that in the cluster menu (when you hold mode & set buttons) that it doesn't have the same sort of displays as say a regular VZ or an S or SS ute.... there is no oil pressure, the 1 or 2 door unlocking option isn't there, setup for the hazards to flash & horn beep option when locking isn't there either, there is probably more but I can just remember these off the top of my head.
I plan on upgrading to a SS cluster shortly anyway so who knows, these menu options may all work/be there after it is recalibrated to suit my Tonner.
